About the Position
The Near.org Core Experience team is currently seeking an adept Software Engineer to join our mission to enrich near.org with social, cooperative, and interactive features. We aim to transform the near.org developer network into the premier platform for crafting open-source software, decentralized user interfaces, and decentralized applications within the open web ecosystem.
We are seeking a highly productive, pragmatic, and empathetic collaborator to be part of our team. We need someone who is invigorated by challenging technical conundrums and is determined to construct high-performing user interfaces. Collaborating with Designers and User Researchers, you’ll work to create elegant User Experiences, prioritizing a user-centric approach in everything we do to understand how your contributions influence the usability of near.org for our target personas.
What Your Role Entails
- You will be part of a collaborative, globally dispersed team of accomplished engineers, offering a prime opportunity to expand your technical skill set.
- You’ll engage in essential processes such as technical roadmaps, OKRs, milestone management, and regular team meetings.
- Your work will revolve around developing user interfaces on near.org and participating in on-call rotations.
Qualifications We Are Seeking
- You possess the ability to resolve a wide range of frontend engineering challenges.
- Strong communication skills to effectively express ideas, engage in technical discussions with team members, and actively participate in constructive debates with a shared goal of success.
- You demonstrate creativity, offering proof of concept from high-level designs, even when all the details are not yet known.
- You can efficiently provide and receive constructive feedback.
- Ideally, you have over 3 years of experience in building interactive production UIs with React.
- Experience in integrating with asynchronous APIs, including data retrieval, caching, and client-side state management.
- You have fluency in Typescript/Javascript and adhere to web standards.
- A solid grasp of CSS. A Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Arts, or a relevant field is essential.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in working within a fully remote team and the associated skills to excel in a remote work environment.
- Involvement in open-source contributions and previous or ongoing participation in open source communities.
- Experience with design systems and components.
- Familiarity with CSS-in-JS libraries.
- Knowledge of other crypto or blockchain technologies. Experience in startup environments.
Our interview process, conducted via Zoom, typically involves the following stages:
- Internal Recruiter Call (30 to 45 minutes)
- Meeting with the Hiring Manager (45 to 60 minutes)
- Technical Interviews (3 interviews of 60 minutes each)

Compensation
The base salary for this role falls within the range of $148,750 to $175,000. This range encompasses the minimum and maximum pay rates across all locations in the United States. It does not include bonuses, incentives, or benefits.
The actual base pay depends on various factors such as your level, relevant skills, and work location. If you are situated outside the United States, other geographic considerations may impact your final compensation. Your recruiter will provide more information regarding compensation and benefits specific to your preferred location during the hiring process.
