About Us

At the Celo Foundation, we collaborate with various organizations across the Celo ecosystem, including cLabs, the team behind the open-source platform Celo, with a shared goal of constructing a regenerative digital economy that fosters prosperity for all.

Celo is a mobile-first and EVM-compatible blockchain designed for real-world applications, emphasizing fast and low-cost payments on a global scale. As an emerging Layer 2 solution, the Celo network utilizes key features like SocialConnect, a privacy-oriented naming service for phone numbers, email addresses, and other social identifiers, as well as FiatConnect, an open on-/off-ramp API standard that simplifies money transfers similar to sending a text message.

Moreover, Celo serves as the onchain hub for regenerative finance (“ReFi”) and a pioneer in real-world assets (RWAs), including stablecoins such as USDC, upcoming USDT, and local currencies like Mento’s eXOF and cREAL, pegged to the CFA Franc (used across 14 sub-Saharan African countries) and the Brazilian Real, respectively.

Celo also hosts the fastest-growing mobile decentralized applications (dApps) and projects with a global user base, encompassing over 1,000 projects across 150 countries. Notable examples include mobile wallets like Valora and Opera MiniPay, an ultralight 2MB stablecoin wallet deployed in Kenya, Nigeria, and Ghana, which amassed over 2 million users shortly after its September 2023 launch.

Celo seeks to appoint a Head of Developer Relations to spearhead the expansion of Celo’s developer communities and drive the adoption of the Celo platform among the global developer community. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in leading and managing developer and community programs, supporting application and core engineers, maintaining technical proficiency, collaborating across marketing, product, and partnership teams, and presenting at major web3 developer events worldwide.

Most importantly, you’re passionate about real-world solutions, scaling impact, and advancing the adoption of blockchain technology for everyday users across the globe.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Developer Relations Engineers and Technical Program Managers to develop and implement a comprehensive developer engagement strategy.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across multiple teams to support initiatives that enable the Celo blockchain to achieve its goal of processing 25 million transactions per day by 2025.
  • Design and execute a budget to identify optimal opportunities for attracting, retaining, and supporting Celo’s global developer community.
  • Actively drive and nurture growth in Celo Developer and Founder communities, providing access to millions of mobile web3 users attracted by Celo’s distinctive features and significant growth potential.
  • Guide developer outreach programs, including hackathons, workshops, webinars, and developer meetups.
  • Ensure the delivery of top-quality technical documentation, tutorials, and educational materials to assist developers in building on the Celo platform.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to gather developer feedback, advocate for enhancements, and identify tools and platforms to enhance the developer experience and support mobile dApp development.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key developer communities, influencers, and partners to raise awareness and drive adoption of the Celo platform.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and developer feedback to refine and enhance Celo’s developer relations strategy (Farcaster).

Your Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Solidity, WASM, or other smart contract development languages.
  • Previous experience managing a small team across multiple time zones, with effective remote communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate strategy effectively to various stakeholders internally and externally, and to coordinate efforts within a decentralized global community.
  • Experience with developing, supporting, or promoting advanced or innovative technologies.
  • Community involvement in core protocol development, dApp development, developer tooling or development experience, mobile application development, or web development.
  • Strong analytical skills to determine key metrics for measuring progress in programs, products, tooling, infrastructure, and overall initiatives.
  • Contribution to open-source projects; contributions to web3 projects are highly desirable.
  • Proven success in recruiting both paid and volunteer community members to expand outreach and impact.
