Trezor, the cryptocurrency hardware wallet provider, is currently investigating a recent phishing campaign reported by users who have received phishing emails. The investigation comes after an anonymous blockchain investigator, ZachXBT, raised awareness of a phishing attack aimed at Trezor customers on October 26.
ZachXBT referred to a tweet from the account JHDN, which suggested that Trezor might have experienced a breach due to phishing emails sent to the email addresses used for wallet purchases. The phishing email in question, similar to past Trezor-related phishing attacks, lures users into downloading the “latest firmware update” for their Trezor devices to “resolve a software issue.” The email is reported to have been sent from the address amministrazione@sideagroup.com
ZachXBT highlighted the potential implications of this phishing campaign, including a possible data breach at Trezor or Evri, a UK delivery company that ships Trezor devices. Additional reports on Reddit also mentioned receiving similar phishing emails.
Trezor’s brand ambassador, Josef Tetek, acknowledged the ongoing phishing campaign and emphasized the company’s efforts to combat such threats. Trezor routinely reports fake websites, contacts domain registrars, and educates customers about phishing risks. Tetek provided guidance to users, advising them not to enter their recovery seed, PIN, or passphrase on any website, mobile app, or computer. He stressed that the only secure way to handle the recovery seed is in accordance with the instructions displayed on a connected Trezor hardware wallet.

Despite efforts to combat phishing attacks in the cryptocurrency space, investors continue to fall victim to such scams.
