About the Role:
At Alchemy, infrastructure is our cornerstone. As a Principal Engineer focusing on infrastructure and backend systems, you will collaborate on one of the most sophisticated and high-throughput distributed systems in blockchain technology. Your role involves architecting new systems and enhancing existing ones for a platform serving millions of users globally.
Responsibilities:
- Define the vision for backend infrastructure supporting our developer platform and APIs, guiding the team in executing that vision.
- Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable and reliable infrastructure, APIs, and services.
- Lead system design discussions, stand-up meetings, and code reviews.
- Establish best practices for backend infrastructure, emphasizing high throughput, reliability, and low latency.
- Troubleshoot production issues across services and layers of the stack.
- Collaborate with engineers, technical leaders, product managers, and designers.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of industry experience.
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Proficiency in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining core backend software components (experience with API platforms preferred).
- Ability to solve complex design, scaling, latency, or performance problems in high-throughput, low-latency production systems.
- Proficient in Java, Golang, or C++.
- Experience with Cloud Native environments, particularly AWS.
- Familiarity with managed Kubernetes layers like AWS EKS is advantageous.
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to execute new ideas autonomously.
- Understanding of the balance between perfection and rapid deployment.
- Entrepreneurial experience or startup involvement is a plus.

The base salary range for this role is estimated to be $135,000 – $350,000 annually. Please note that this range reflects base salary only and does not include bonuses, equity, or benefits. Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, skill set, qualifications, and business needs.
